Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a senior Network/SRE engineer to own and optimize ultra-low-latency data-center networks supporting institutional trading and exchange connectivity. You will lead end-to-end execution from racking and cabling to HA architectures in on-prem and cloud environments.

You will mentor engineers, drive incident response for 24/7 trading systems, and collaborate with SRE, Infra, Product, and trading teams to improve reliability and developer velocity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of network/infrastructure or SRE experience in latency-sensitive environments.
• Hands-on with multicast, BGP, OSPF, VRFs and data-center switching.
• Experience leading incident response for production trading systems.
• Familiar with Fortinet or Palo Alto firewalls and VPNs; Linux networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own, operate, and optimize resilient, ultra-low-latency networks and data-center infrastructure.
• Design routing, traffic-segmentation, and multicast market-data architectures using BGP, OSPF, VRFs and high-availability platforms.
• Deploy and operate firewalls and secure connectivity across Fortinet and Palo Alto platforms, including VPNs.
• Drive observability and operational excellence through SNMP, gRPC telemetry, latency and packet-loss analysis, and network automation.
• Lead safe production changes, incident response, failover testing, and on-call rotation for 24/7 trading systems.
• Mentor engineers and partner cross-functionally with SRE/Infra, Product, and trading-system teams.
