Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a senior network/SRE engineer to own and optimize ultra-low-latency data-center networks supporting institutional trading and exchange connectivity. You will design, implement, and operate routing, multicast, and firewall architectures across on-prem and cloud environments, working closely with SRE/Infra and trading teams.

We expect 8+ years in latency-sensitive networks, hands-on expertise with BGP/OSPF/VRFs, and experience leading live incident responses.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of network, infrastructure, or SRE engineering with production ownership in latency-sensitive environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with multicast networking, BGP, OSPF, VRFs, and low-latency data-center switching.
• Experience leading live incident response for production trading systems and cross-functional coordination.
• Experience with Fortinet or Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, SNMP or gRPC telemetry, and network automation with Python or Ansible.
• Familiarity with exchange/electronic trading concepts; crypto experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own, operate, and optimize low-latency networks and infrastructure for trading and data connectivity.
• Design and maintain routing, traffic segmentation, and market-data architectures.
• Deploy and operate firewalls and secure connectivity across Fortinet and Palo Alto platforms.
• Drive observability and automation with telemetry, latency analysis, and Python/Ansible tooling.
• Lead production changes, incident response, and on-call rotations; mentor engineers.
