Job summary

Shermco Industries in Sulphur, LA is seeking an experienced Senior NETA Field Service Technician to inspect, test, troubleshoot and collect data on electrical power systems at customer sites. Travel locally and regionally to industrial and commercial sites is required.

The role requires 5+ years of switchgear testing experience, NETA Certification or electrical license preferred, and strong PC skills including Excel. PowerDB experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in EPC or ABET EE preferred or equivalent military training
• NETA Certification (III or IV) preferred or electrician license
• 5+ years of relevant switchgear testing & troubleshooting experience
• Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry; Excel; PowerDB a plus
• Must be able to travel locally/regionally and for overnight trips
• Must read/write/speak English fluently and pass background/drug tests

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot and collect data on HV/LV systems
• Perform transformer, relay, and switchgear testing and calibration
• Test electrical components (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot)
• Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
• Coordinate on-call emergencies and respond promptly to customer needs
• Adhere to all electrical safety procedures at all times
• Maintain accurate data records and reports for customers and internal teams
