Job summary

DECAL is seeking a senior engineer to lead modernization of its licensing and eligibility platform in Georgia. You will design and deliver cloud-native solutions on .NET 8+ and Azure, owning APIs, data architecture, and deployment pipelines. This role demands initiative, accountability, and the ability to work independently.

You will drive architectural decisions, mentor teammates, and ensure secure, scalable outcomes as part of a lean team focused on transforming a statewide system.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional .NET development experience (C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web API).
• Experience migrating legacy ASP.NET to modern .NET (6/7/8/10).
• Production SQL Server experience with T-SQL and migrations.
• Azure hands-on (App Services, Functions) and deployment pipelines.
• 5+ years delivering software in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).
• Experience with RESTful API design and integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization of DECAL’s licensing and eligibility applications on .NET and Azure.
• Design scalable, secure, maintainable solutions to reduce technical debt.
• Build and evolve API-first integrations and cloud-native services.
• Own SQL Server data architecture, performance tuning, and migration.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps for automated testing and deployment.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, code reviews, and documentation.
