Fortra is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to contribute to the Automate platform. You will design and build capabilities on a mature .NET product, mentor teammates, perform code reviews, and promote AI-assisted development across a distributed team.

This fully remote role emphasizes delivering high-quality code, maintaining system health, and guiding best practices while collaborating across time zones with engineers in multiple regions. Experience with .NET, C#, and SQL is required.

Qualificações

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep hands-on .NET and C# work, including .NET Framework 4.8 and modern .NET.
• Strong grasp of object-oriented design, design patterns, and modern software engineering practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience with full stack, on-premises software delivery, where you cannot push a fix in an hour and the customer controls the upgrade.
• Experience on large, long-lived, complex codebases.
• Experience writing unit tests, and a point of view on what makes a test worth keeping.
• Git, dependency injection, and working knowledge of Agile delivery.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and build and release tooling, ideally including GitLab.
• A track record of mentoring other engineers, whether or not you have held a formal lead title.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, and comfort working across time zones on a distributed team.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants on production work, and the judgment to know when not to.

Responsabilidades

• Build and maintain new platform capabilities by translating product requirements into implementation, tests, and release plans.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, including AI capabilities that become part of the product.
• Work across a large .NET and C# codebase spanning desktop, server, and database layers.
• Diagnose and fix complex defects that cross component boundaries, including production issues.
• Keep pace with foundational work: runtime upgrades, dependency and security remediation, platform health.
• Participate fully in the development lifecycle from design through release.
