Fortra is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to contribute to the Automate platform. You will design, build, and improve capabilities in a mature .NET product, mentor teammates, and help set engineering standards.

This full-time, fully remote role spans a large codebase with desktop, server, and database components. You will work across time zones on a distributed team to deliver high-quality software and leverage AI tools responsibly.

Qualificações

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep hands-on .NET and C# work including modern .NET
• Strong grasp of object-oriented design, design patterns, and modern software engineering practices
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build/release tooling, ideally GitLab
• Experience mentoring other engineers and contributing to team standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, and ability to work across time zones on a distributed team
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants on production work and good judgment about when to use them

Responsabilidades

• Develop and maintain new platform capabilities, translating requirements into implementations, tests, and release plans
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, including AI features for the product
• Work across a large .NET and C# codebase spanning client, server, and database layers
• Diagnose and fix complex defects and uphold platform health through upgrades and security remediation
• Participate fully in the development lifecycle from design to release
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and pairing
• Contribute to coding conventions and quality gates
