Job summary

Fortra is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to design and build capabilities on the Automate platform, a no-code/low-code RPA product. You will work on a mature .NET/C# stack, mentor teammates, and help set coding standards while embracing AI tools.

This is a fully remote role on a distributed team serving regulated industries with strong data security needs. You will contribute across desktop, server, and database layers, maintaining health, performing upgrades, and participating in the full

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep hands-on .NET and C# work.
• Experience with AI coding assistants on production code and judgment to know when not to.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, and ability to work across time zones on a distributed team.
• Experience mentoring other engineers and leading by example.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build/release tooling (prefer GitLab).
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including complex queries and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain new platform capabilities in a mature .NET product.
• Mentor less experienced engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Translate product requirements into design, specs, tests, and release plans.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies, including AI features integrated into the product.
• Handle runtime upgrades, security remediation, and platform health tasks.
• Collaborate across a large codebase spanning desktop, server, and database layers.
