Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer - Medium Voltage (MV) to lead as the senior technical authority for electrical architecture, design governance, validation strategy, and lifecycle support of MV power distribution products and systems (1 kV–38 kV). You will collaborate with customers and global teams to ensure safety, quality, and cost targets align with lifecycle processes.

Qualifications

• Senior technical authority for MV electrical architecture and design governance.
• Lead cross-program engineering decisions for MV switchgear and power distribution.
• Define and approve protection and coordination philosophies and relay settings.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE C37, ANSI C37, IEC 62271, NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA, UL requirements.
• Mentor engineers and develop reusable standards and design guides.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern the electrical architecture strategy for MV switchgear, substations, transformers, feeder systems.
• Translate requirements into scalable engineering specifications, design rules, roadmaps, and release deliverables.
• Lead system-level electrical architecture decisions for protection systems, control systems, metering, and power distribution schemes.
• Define short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, grounding, and protection studies to ensure protection performance and reliability.
• Provide technical direction for MV component selection including circuit breakers, bus systems, relays, and transformers.
• Establish guidelines for IEC 61850, Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, Ethernet/IP communications.
• Oversee design transfer, manufacturing readiness, and issue resolution across sites.
• Collaborate with customers, manufacturing, sourcing, regulatory, and field teams to align decisions with objectives.
