Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Principal Engineer – MV Electrical in Prince George, VA to lead the electrical architecture, design governance, and lifecycle support for 1kV–38kV power systems. You will drive technical decisions, guide cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with safety, reliability, and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems focus.
• Extensive MV switchgear, substations, and distribution experience.
• Demonstrated leadership across multiple programs and product launches.
• Expertise in MV protection, coordination, insulation coordination, BIL, grounding, and arc-flash mitigation.
• Experience integrating IEDs, PLCs, HMIs, protection relays, and SCADA with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, or Ethernet/IP.

Responsibilities

• Own and govern MV electrical architecture for switchgear and substations.
• Translate requirements into scalable specifications, roadmaps, and release deliverables.
• Lead system-level architecture decisions for protection, metering, and control systems.
• Define protection philosophies, relay settings, and system safety strategies.
• Oversee selection of MV components and power distribution equipment.
• Establish communication guidelines using IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, Ethernet/IP.
• Validate short-circuit, load-flow, arc-flash, and grounding studies.
