Job summary

Kleinfelder seeks a Senior Municipal Engineer to lead civil, municipal and environmental projects in West Des Moines, IA. You will collaborate with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, and office staff to deliver integrated, high‑impact solutions.

The role requires a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, 10+ years of design experience, and an Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within one year. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of civil engineering design experience preferred.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Experience with roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water distribution design desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
