Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Sr. Movable Bridge Engineer to lead inspection and design teams on movable bridge projects. You will provide technical leadership, develop rehabilitation strategies, and prepare drawings, specs, and reports for transportation structures.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, US PE, 15+ years in movable bridge electrical engineering, and strong CAD skills. Travel for short-term assignments is expected; the position supports a hybrid work model across the US.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-EAC Accredited Degree); Specialization in Electrical Power Systems preferred.
• PE in the US.
• 15+ years of experience in movable bridge Electrical Engineering.
• Substantial experience in bridge electrical design with movable structures.
• Substantial movable bridge inspection experience.
• Experience with CAD and drawing software, AutoCAD and Microstation.
• Solid understanding of AASHTO LRFD Movable Bridge Design Specifications and AREMA recommendations.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and direction on movable bridge projects.
• Commit to quality and continuous improvement through innovation and creative thinking.
• Perform existing bridge inspection and condition assessment, and develop rehabilitation strategies.
• Prepare contract drawings, technical specifications, design calculations, technical reports, and construction cost estimates.
• Develop preliminary details using CAD software and coordinate with CAD technicians.
• Serve as a technical resource to the project team and mentor junior engineers.
• Develop technical reports, documents, client communication and memoranda.
