Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking an experienced mortgage underwriter to analyze new credit applications, adjudicate loans, and provide data-driven insights. This role focuses on risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with stakeholders across departments.

Responsibilities include delivering regular reports, supporting strategic initiatives, and ensuring adherence to credit policies while maintaining strong client communication and service standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Strong understanding of HUD Handbook 4155.1 and 4155.2
• Experience with web-based approval systems (DU/LP)
• In-depth pipeline management
• Strong ability to analyze complex financials and tax returns

Responsibilities

• Analyzes new customer credit applications and makes credit decisions/recommendations
• Develops solutions based on business strategy and stakeholder needs
• Collaborates with stakeholders to deliver on business objectives
• Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
• Monitors performance and addresses issues
• Builds change management plans and leads related activities
• Executes routine tasks within service level agreements
• Adjudicates new credit applications within defined limits
