Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to analyze new credit applications, adjudicate decisions, and develop reporting dashboards. You will work with stakeholders to align credit strategies with business goals and ensure compliance with HUD, FHA, and VA guidelines.

The role requires 8+ years in mortgage underwriting, strong income analysis skills, and proficiency with web-based approval systems. Remote work options may be available; comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
• FHA and VA in the U.S. required
• HUD 4155.1/4155.2 knowledge required
• Experience with web-based approval systems (DU/LP)
• Strong income analysis including multiple sources
• Knowledge of cash flow, credit, and collateral evaluation
• Ability to issue credit decisions within policy constraints
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Adjudicate new credit applications within defined limits
• Perform credit analyses and provide recommendations
• Prepare regular/ad-hoc reports and dashboards
• Monitor pipeline and performance metrics
• Develop change management plans and coordinate stakeholder readiness
