Job summary

Rush Truck Centers, a leading network of commercial vehicle dealers, seeks an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to service client fleets on-site. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy trucks at customer locations, with after-hours availability and a focus on rapid, quality service.

Responsibilities include instrumenting diagnostics, ordering parts, managing service inventory, and documenting work in our system.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Current CDL preferred but not required.
  • Medical card as required by the FMVS.
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are a must.
  • Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and inspections as assigned.
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle stocked.
  • Report to the Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work required on diesel trucks and equipment.
  • Read job orders and determine malfunction to plan work procedures.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to determine malfunction and perform correct repair procedures.
  • Diagnose, remove and replace injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, heads, bearings, pans, clutches, and other parts.
  • Perform diagnostic and documentation on the company computer system.
  • Inspect safety devices and make adjustments as needed.
  • Lubricate moving parts and road-test repaired vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
  • Submit paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
  • Advise customers on repairs or services to be performed within 3 months.
  • Participate in training and apply it on the job.
