Job summary

Rush Truck Centers seeks an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to maintain client fleets and perform on-site service calls, ensuring rapid, expert care of trucks and equipment. The role emphasizes diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and timely documentation, with a strong focus on safety and customer relations.

Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility
  • Current CDL preferred but not required
  • Medical card as required by the FMVS
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must
  • Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, keeping it clean, and ensuring inspections are performed and documented as assigned.
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and keep the vehicle properly stocked.
  • Report to the Service Manager and follow daily duties.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and an open work schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work required in maintaining diesel engine trucks and related equipment.
  • Read job orders and observe/listen to vehicle operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify malfunctions and perform correct repair procedures.
  • Diagnosis and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, bearings, oil pans, clutches, transmissions and other parts.
  • Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
  • Examine guards, loose bolts, safety devices and make adjustments.
  • Lubricate moving parts and test drive to verify conformance to specs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
  • Document and submit paperwork or enter into mobile service program.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive customer relations.
  • Advise customer/service writer of repairs or services within the next 3 months.
  • Participate in training and apply it in the course of work.
