Job summary

Torc is seeking a senior software engineer to develop and deploy production ML models for ego-motion estimation and localization in autonomous trucks. You will work with camera, LiDAR, radar, and other sensors, building scalable training and evaluation pipelines in PyTorch and C++.

Join a multi-disciplinary team in a hybrid U.S. setting, contributing to robust localization, sensor fusion, and real-world deployment with production-quality software and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, SE, or robotics with 6+ years of relevant experience, or higher degrees with reduced experience.
• Experience with AV/robotics localization (LiDAR, visual odometry, SLAM, map-based pose estimation).
• Proficiency with PyTorch and ML tooling for training, inference, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML models for ego-motion estimation and localization using multiple sensors.
• Develop scalable training workflows with PyTorch and distributed training infrastructure.
• Design and improve state estimation and sensor fusion for robust pose, velocity, and acceleration estimation.
• Analyze large-scale vehicle data to characterize performance and drive improvements.
• Develop production software in C++ and Python across the lifecycle.
• Define evaluation strategies to ensure localization quality and safety.
• Make design decisions balancing performance, robustness, and production constraints.
• Collaborate with perception, mapping, planning, controls, and platform teams.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and mentoring.
