Job summary

Torc Robotics is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer II – 3D Perception to advance BEV perception and production ML solutions for autonomous trucks. You will design and deploy models, write production Python/PyTorch code, and collaborate with software and autonomy teams to improve system performance.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, mentorship of junior engineers, and contribution to training pipelines and tooling in a hybrid/remote-ready environment in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience or Master's with 1+ year.
• Experience developing ML models for computer vision, perception, robotics, or autonomous systems.
• Strong Python and PyTorch skills with production-quality code.
• Experience training and evaluating deep learning models on large datasets.
• Experience with image-based and 3D perception systems.
• Solid understanding of DL architectures used in perception applications.
• Ability to debug models, analyze metrics, and improve models.
• Ability to work independently within defined problem areas and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve ML models for Torc’s perception systems.
• Own model development from data prep through training, evaluation, and integration.
• Write production-quality Python and PyTorch code for scalable workflows.
• Analyze model performance and troubleshoot to improve robustness and generalization.
• Develop perception models using multi-modal sensor data (camera, LiDAR).
• Collaborate with software, infrastructure, and autonomy teams to deploy models.
• Contribute to training pipelines, data workflows, and experimentation tooling.
• Lead small initiatives and mentor junior ML engineers.
• Document technical work and design decisions for maintainability.
