Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a Senior Weapon Systems Engineer to help conceive, assess, and improve guided missile systems through a robust MBSE process, high-fidelity simulations, and rigorous data analysis.

You will evaluate interceptor performance, identify limiting factors in systems-of-systems, develop requirements for evolving designs, and present findings to sponsors and the warfighter, while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, or Physics.
  • 5+ years of analysis and design experience on interceptor systems or similar simulations.
  • Experience with MBSE and SysML tools; familiarity with architectural constructs like UAFML/DODAAF 2.0.
  • Experience with weapon system simulations (AFSIM/EADSIM) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with sponsors.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, assess, and improve guided missile systems via MBSE and simulations.
  • Evaluate mission effectiveness of interceptor systems and adapt to threats.
  • Identify limiting factors in systems-of-systems performance and propose enhancements.
  • Develop requirements and evaluation criteria for evolving interceptor designs.
  • Present findings to government sponsors and the warfighter.
  • Mentor junior staff and act as technical authority on programs.
