Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory seeks an intern for the Weapon Systems Engineering group to tackle complex missile defense challenges. You will develop tools to generate, visualize, and analyze simulated data, and contribute to real-world system analyses and testing.

Ideal candidates are pursuing CS/engineering/physics/applied math degrees, with MATLAB/Python skills, Linux experience, and a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Eligibility for security clearance and U.S.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering, Physics or Applied Math.
  • Strong interest in computing, simulations, data analysis, and autonomous air vehicles.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Experience developing or troubleshooting software in a Linux environment.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Eligibility for Interim Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools to generate, visualize, and analyze simulated guided missile data using high-fidelity/mixed-fidelity simulations.
  • Assist in the development and efficient use of containerized software.
  • Use real world data to verify and validate complex models.
  • Present key findings to internal stakeholders and peers.
  • Impact processes and decisions on system design to keep our war-fighter safe.
