Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD, seeks a Mission Engineer to develop national security space missions and create systems-of-systems models in a digital MBSE environment. You will work with engineers to provide mission engineering, systems engineering, and software engineering expertise for critical space capabilities.

You will create SysML models, lead MBSE activities, and collaborate across programs while supporting stakeholder needs and architecture implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, space systems, national security architectures, and/or MBSE practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with MBSE modeling tools (Cameo, Rhapsody, SPARX EA) for space architectures.
  • Experience defining and refining space architectures.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Active Top Secret clearance eligibility and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and utilize system models for design and implementation of complex systems and systems-of-systems critical to warfighter needs.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary experts to develop engineering models informing decisions and simplifying design/test.
  • Create and maintain SysML-based models using MBSE methods and tools.
  • Support or lead efforts on multiple programs and solicit stakeholder requirements for mission engineering and architecture implementation.
  • Provide mission engineering and MBSE expertise to the engineering team.
