Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking a Principal Microwave Systems Engineer to lead the development of next-generation microwave technologies.

You will guide cross-functional teams across design, testing, and packaging, driving technical leadership in microwave generation, control systems, and data processing. You will own system-level specifications, collaborate with product marketing, and manage tradeoffs between cost, performance, and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or systems engineering or similar; 7+ years of experience.
• Ability to balance cost, performance, and schedules.
• Experience in system integration and DVT planning.
• Proven track record of successful new product releases.
• Experience with analog and digital design circuitry and test methodology.
• Skills in waveguides, coax, impedance matching, VSWR calculations.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication.
• Experience with FMEA.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, modeling, testing, and packaging of complex microwave components and systems.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Scope market requirements with Product Marketing and applications team.
• Create system-level design specifications and project scopes.
• Collaborate with Project Management on budgets, schedules, specs.
• Develop and execute design verification plans.
• Present tradeoffs to optimize performance, reliability, cost.
• Ensure designs meet industry and regulatory standards.
• Analyze and implement quality, reliability, cost improvements.
