Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Methuen, MA, is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead cross-functional teams in electronic control systems, mechanical subsystems, signal acquisition, and data processing across multiple product families including high power electronics and spectroscopy.

You will drive design verification, develop system specifications, and collaborate with vendors to optimize performance, reliability, and cost while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years, or B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience designing electronics for optoelectronic instruments, optical detection systems, and mixed-signal architectures.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to present engineering tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technical team responsible for design, modeling, testing, and packaging of complex electro-mechanical components and systems.
• Develop system-level design specifications and project scope documents.
• Serve as primary technical liaison for electronics vendors and define requirements for externally sourced assemblies.
• Develop, document, and execute design verification plans; report results and optimize performance, reliability, and cost.
• Communicate effectively with development teams and management stakeholders.
