Job summary

Leidos Energy is seeking a Senior Microgrid Automation Engineer to lead microgrid and renewable energy projects. You will work with SCADA, EMS, IEDs, HMIs, and RTUs, applying islanding and energy management concepts to ensure reliable operation.

The ideal candidate holds a BSEE with 4–8+ years in microgrids, plus P&C experience and proficiency in CAD, simulation tools, and industry protocols. Occasional field work and collaboration with diverse teams are expected.

Qualifications

BSEE required with 4+ years of microgrid experience.
Strong knowledge of microgrids and renewable energy.
Power system protection & control (P&C) experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Willingness to perform field work in rough terrain to access remote project locations.

Responsibilities

Design and lead microgrid and renewable energy projects with control systems.
Apply knowledge of islanding, grid-connected operation, energy management, control strategies, and power flow.
Participate in FAT and SAT testing and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
Develop drawings and specifications for utility telecom system projects.
Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors; travel to project sites as needed.
Utilize CAD and simulation tools; work with DNP3, Modbus, MMS protocols and modeling software.
