Job summary

ResourceTek is seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist for a direct-hire role in the Reading, PA area. The successful candidate will support the melt shop operations (VIM, ESR, VAR) and provide technical services to internal and external customers in collaboration with a global metals manufacturing leader.

Responsibilities include disposition of non-conforming material, statistical problem solving, and process optimization to improve yield, productivity and cost reductions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Willingness to travel on a limited basis.

Responsibilities

• Disposition of referred, non-conforming and off-standard material.
• Apply statistical methods to solve problems and design experiments.
• Ensure quality of melts by melt record review and verification of procedures.
• Participate in procedure development and process optimization.
• Improve yield, productivity and cost reductions of melt operations.
• Evaluate raw material/refractory sources and product specifications.
• Interact with operations, technical, R&D, purchasing and quality teams.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
