Job summary

SolomonEdwards is seeking a Senior Metallurgist for onsite work in Reading, PA. You will provide technical metallurgical support across premium melting operations (VIM, ESR, VAR) and interact with customers to meet specifications.

Responsibilities include reviewing materials, applying statistics, driving yield, and mentoring staff. A relocation package is offered and travel modest. Requires 4+ years in metallurgy and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant metallurgical or manufacturing experience.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and industrial practices.
• Experience leading technical programs or projects and delivering results on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Review and disposition non-conforming materials per specs and customer requirements.
• Apply statistical methods to investigate process issues and design experiments.
• Drive improvements in melt-shop yield, productivity, and cost.
• Provide technical guidance and training to customers and internal personnel.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and drive improvement.
