Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical resource for metallurgy issues affecting product quality and manufacturing performance.
• Evaluate disposition for non-conforming or complex materials.
• Lead technical investigations related to product performance and material quality.

Metallurgist – Technology

We are seeking an experienced Metallurgist – Technology to serve as a senior technical expert supporting advanced materials, manufacturing processes, product development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position will provide high-level metallurgical guidance across complex technical programs while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, R&D, and customer-facing teams. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in metallurgy, strong project leadership capabilities, and the ability to translate technical findings into practical business and manufacturing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical resource for metallurgy-related issues impacting product quality, manufacturing performance, customer requirements, and business objectives.
• Evaluate and determine appropriate disposition for non-conforming, off-standard, or technically complex material.
• Lead technical investigations related to product performance, customer concerns, manufacturing deviations, and material quality.
• Provide metallurgical support and technical guidance to internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional project teams focused on alloy development, process improvement, product optimization, and complex technical problem solving.
• Develop project plans, coordinate resources, manage timelines, and monitor project budgets to ensure successful execution.
• Apply statistical analysis, experimental design, SPC, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to identify root causes and improve process performance.
• Identify technical risks, evaluate potential business impact, and communicate recommendations to leadership.
• Support the development and qualification of new alloys, manufacturing processes, technologies, and products.
• Monitor emerging materials and manufacturing technologies to identify opportunities for future product or process development.
• Identify opportunities for new products, strategic partnerships, and technical capabilities that support long-term growth.
• Provide technical education and training to customers, engineers, production teams, and other key stakeholders.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to less-experienced metallurgists, engineers, and technical professionals.
• Support peers and leadership on high-priority technical initiatives, customer opportunities, and strategic projects.
• Prepare and present technical reports, recommendations, project findings, and risk assessments to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Perform additional technical assignments and special projects as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience in metallurgy, materials engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical environment.
• Advanced knowledge of metallurgical principles, material behavior, manufacturing processes, and industry practices.
• Experience working with metallurgical testing, production equipment, material characterization, and manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex technical projects and cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of statistical methods, experimental design, SPC, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proven ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical, innovative solutions.
• Strong project planning, organizational, and resource management skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical risks, findings, and recommendations to leadership and customers.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing initiatives, and consistently deliver results within established timelines.
• Ability to travel as needed and work within manufacturing and production environments.
