Job summary

Tenth Revolution Group is seeking a Senior Metallurgist – Premium Melting to lead metallurgical efforts in VIM, ESR, and VAR. You will collaborate with operations, quality, engineering, and R&D to optimize processes, improve product quality, and drive continuous improvement for premium melting operations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 4 years of metallurgy experience, with preferred exposure to premium melting methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in metallurgy, materials engineering, specialty metals manufacturing, or a related field.
• Direct experience with premium melting processes, including VIM, ESR, VAR, or similar metallurgical operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and disposition non-conforming, off-standard, or referred material.
• Apply statistical analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and experimental design techniques to investigate and resolve technical and process-related issues.
• Ensure melt quality through timely review of melt records, verification of process adherence, and compliance with approved customer requirements and operating procedures.
• Develop, implement, and optimize melting procedures through process management principles, standardized work practices, and variation reduction initiatives.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve yield, productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance within melting operations.
• Evaluate and qualify new raw material suppliers, refractory materials, and other process inputs.
• Support new product development activities, including specification review and technical assessments.
• Investigate and resolve customer technical concerns related to melting processes and product quality.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, quality, purchasing, and research and development teams to support business objectives.
• Provide technical support during customer visits and quality audits.
• Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations as needed.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement and cross-functional project teams.
• Deliver technical training and education to customers and internal personnel.
• Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
