Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced MEP Design Phase Manager to lead design phase activities for multiple concurrent projects. You will oversee estimating, business partner selection, preliminary scheduling, design development, quality control, and commissioning planning for MEP scopes.

You will also review system options, coordinate cost analyses, and provide input to programming and conceptual design. Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent field experience.
• Minimum of 10 years in construction or design/engineering project management.
• Strong knowledge of building codes (IBC, NFPA, IMC, IFC, UFC, Energy Codes).
• Ability to travel up to 50% and lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall management direction for design phase activities on multiple projects.
• Review MEP options, perform systems analysis and develop costed designs.
• Coordinate life cycle cost analysis and ensure design aligns with schedule and budget.
• Lead and coach project teams and integrate 3D/4D modeling in preconstruction.
• Support bid team and partner selection, and manage on-site MEP resources during construction.
