Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced MEP Design Phase Manager in the United States to lead design phase activities, including estimating, business partner selection, and coordination of MEP systems for concurrent projects.

The role emphasizes developing design concepts, reviewing MEP options, and integrating 3D/4D modeling into preconstruction efforts while coordinating with project teams to meet schedule and cost goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
• Minimum 10 years of construction experience, preferably with a Mechanical, Electrical Contractor, or related firm.
• Minimum five years estimating or on-site project management experience in construction or 5 years experience designing or project management at an engineering firm.
• Thorough knowledge of building codes and their application (IBC, NFPA, IMC, IFC, UFC, Energy Codes).
• Strong leadership, communication, problem solving, initiative and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel up to 70%.
• Knowledge of EEO, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative Action plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide input for acquisition of new projects and assist in bid development.
• Review MEP options and provide system analyses for projects.
• Input into programming and conceptual design activities.
• Coordinate lifecycle cost analysis during MEP selection.
• Review documents from award to buyout for sizing, coordination, and constructability.
• Lead and/or participate in MEP business partner selection and bid package development.
• Provide on-site support to ensure scope, quality and schedule performance by MEP partners.
• Lead team and coach members, manage performance.
