Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking an experienced MEP Design Phase Manager to provide overall management direction for design phase activities on multiple projects, including estimating, schedule development, design development, and commissioning planning for MEP scopes.

The role requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a thorough understanding of building systems and codes, with travel up to 70% and a focus on value, quality, and constructability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
• Strong cross-cultural relationship building and influencing abilities.
• Thorough knowledge of codes and their application in design and construction (IBC, NFPA, IMC, IFC, UFC, Energy Codes).
• Ability to travel up to 70%.

Responsibilities

• Provide input in acquisition of new projects and plan design phase activities.
• Review MEP options, perform systems analysis, and coordinate design input.
• Lead and participate in estimating and bid package development.
• Assist in on-site support during construction to ensure scope, quality, and schedule goals.
• Integrate 3D/4D modeling into preconstruction.
• Coach and lead team members and manage performance.
