Cogir Senior Living in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Memory Care Director to lead care delivery in the Memory Care neighborhood, train staff, support care plan execution, and maintain open communication with residents' families.

The role emphasizes programming of activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing records, and collaborating with the Lifestyle team to enhance resident well-being. Evening/weekend availability and compassion for residents with dementia are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in gerontology, nursing, social work, or related field preferred.
• CDP certification or formal dementia training preferred.
• Must meet state requirements to support resident ADL care and medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and orientation to Care Partners and Medication Care Partners, coaching them on Cogir Revere Memory Care standards.
• Assist in recruiting, supervising, and scheduling care staff according to policies and standards.
• Maintain medication program under the Health and Wellness Director.
• Assist in performing assessments and reassessments of residents according to policies.
• Act as the contact for non-clinical issues related to Memory Care resident care.
• Maintain a high level of resident satisfaction by delivering high-quality services.
• Ensure resident records and charting are current and compliant.
• In collaboration with the Lifestyle team, support Cogir Signature Lifestyle programming and resident engagement.
• Support distressed behavior through validation, non-pharmacologic care plans, and timely intervention.
• Provide emotional support and education to families dealing with dementia.
• Understand community care regulations and state-specific requirements.
• Assist with residents’ daily living activities as needed.
• Maintain current departmental policies, procedures, and licenses per regulations.
