Job summary

Core & Main, based in St. Louis with nationwide reach, is seeking a Mega Projects Estimator for water/wastewater treatment plants. The role develops accurate quantity takeoffs for complex infrastructure projects and supports bid strategies with sales, engineering, and design teams.

You will work on design-build and value engineering, mentor junior estimators, ensure compliance with regulations, and coordinate with vendors and contractors to deliver competitive quotations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimation experience in water/wastewater treatment plant construction or critical infrastructure projects.
• Experience performing detailed material quantity takeoffs from construction plan sets.
• Strong understanding of civil and mechanical infrastructure systems.
• Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of associate estimators is a plus.
• Experience working directly with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Prior involvement in design-build, value engineering, or complex bid strategies strongly preferred.
• Certification is required in some areas.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
• Produce detailed material quantity takeoffs for critical infrastructure facilities and systems.
• Identify appropriate materials and specialty components required to meet project design criteria.
• Participate in design-build projects by evaluating material in early and latestage design.
• Collaborate with sales to develop competitive bid strategies and provide timely quotations.
• Lead scope meetings with contractors to confirm alignment with project needs and expectations.
• Coordinate with vendors and design engineers to clarify requirements and applications.
• Mentor estimating personnel and provide ongoing training.
