Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a qualified Medical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee complex testing in a dynamic clinical lab. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, ASCP MT certification preferred, and at least three years of related experience.

The supervisor will guide staff, interpret results with clinical context, and help maintain quality standards across hematology, chemistry, and transfusion workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or completion of an accredited four-year Medical Technology program.
• ASCP MT certification is preferred.
• Three years of related experience; substitutions allowed per policy.

Responsibilities

• Follow established protocols to perform tests in the assigned area, including complex tests.
• Provide guidance to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab Technicians on interpretation of results.
• Interpret and correlate test results with patient history and diagnosis to determine action.
• Troubleshoot testing process discrepancies and assist in developing new tests and QA procedures.
• Ensure results meet laboratory quality control requirements and equipment maintenance is up to date.
• Instruct staff and students in equipment setup and operation and contribute to safety training.
