Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a seasoned laboratory leader to interview candidates, evaluate performance, and schedule lab staff while upholding quality and safety standards. The role includes guiding technicians and medical technologists in testing procedures and interpreting results in collaboration with the Manager.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a clinical lab science and five years of related experience with leadership, with ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• ASCP certification as Medical Technologist preferred.
• Five years of related experience with demonstrated leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Interviews prospective candidates for positions in the laboratory and provides recommendations to the Manager.
• Evaluates new hires and conducts performance reviews.
• Schedules staff for labs and shifts and ensures quality of work.
• Troubleshoots testing processes and approves corrective actions.
• Instructs staff on equipment setup and operation and ensures safety and quality policies.
