Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a qualified Medical Technologist to perform and interpret hematology and related clinical laboratory tests. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and at least three years of experience, with hematology experience being essential.

The position is non-exempt with a day shift and on-site work in Massachusetts. A signing bonus may be available, and the recruitment team will confirm eligibility during the interview process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or completion of an accredited four-year Medical Technology program.
• ASCP MT certification preferred.
• Three years of related experience.
• Hematology experience is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform tests in the assigned area, including complex ones.
• Provides guidance/consultation on interpretation of test results.
• Interprets results with patient history to explain normal/abnormal findings for action.
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
• Assists in developing new tests and quality procedures.
• Ensures results meet laboratory quality control requirements.
