Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Scheduler to ensure timely access to care by coordinating appointment availability for complex services such as surgeries and procedures. The role acts as a liaison among patients, the facility, and physicians to optimize scheduling and patient flow.

This position requires strong customer service, key EHR skills, and the ability to support pre-certification and insurance verification processes.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a medical setting or call center environment to include two years of medical scheduling experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent education required.
• Knowledge of insurance procedures and medical terminology is expected.
• Demonstrates strong communication, patient service, and accuracy in data entry.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for complex services (e.g., surgery, special procedures) on a routine basis and coordinates with physicians and departments.
• Acts as liaison between patient, facility, and providers to ensure timely, accurate scheduling.
• Pre-registers patients in the EHR to obtain pre-certifications, authorizations, and insurance verification.
• Serves as a resource and trainer for less experienced staff and new team members.
• Resolves scheduling issues, communicates with departments, and generates reports as directed.
