Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform tests on patient specimens using manual or automated methods, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols. The role emphasizes quality control, accurate reporting, and collaboration with the Lab Manager to support patient care.

The position requires a BS in Medical Technology or related field and certification as MT (ASCP) or MLS within 3 months of hire; new graduates are welcome

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Experience: Prior experience preferred but new graduates may be hired.
• Must be certified as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist within 3 months of hire; specialty certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet workload and duties.
• Comply with established standards and procedures.
• Perform tests and procedures as ordered and follow manuals.
• Identify, label, and manage specimens and report results accurately.
• Perform quality controls and quality assurance per department protocols.
• Communicate findings clearly to the care team and notify management of issues.
