Job summary

Portsmouth Regional Hospital, part of DCH Health’s HCA Healthcare family, seeks a Medical Technologist to perform chemical, bacteriological, serological and microscopic testing across multiple departments. The role requires strong adherence to SOPs, HIPAA, and quality control practices, with responsibility for accurate results and interdepartmental communication.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree and ASCP certification within 12 months of hire, and is prepared to work across Blood

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs chemical, bacteriological, serological and microscopic procedures under supervision.
• May work in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Point of Care.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Operates laboratory equipment and performs troubleshooting as needed.
• Performs quality control testing on equipment and reagents.
• Analyzes, interprets and reports laboratory results according to protocols.
• Maintains accurate, current records.
• Communicates with shifts and other departments when appropriate.
• Documents corrective actions and instrument maintenance.

Education

Bachelor's Degree is required

ASCP Certification is required within 1 year of hire
