Job summary

Riverside Health System is seeking a Medical Technologist (MT) to join the laboratory team in Smithfield, Virginia. The MT will perform technical procedures across hematology, chemistry, serology, blood bank, urinalysis and microbiology, ensuring strict QC/QA and readiness for accreditation.

The role supports staff training, instrument maintenance, and may involve specimen collection and phlebotomy as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Technology/Clinical Lab Science or related field is required.
• 2 years clinical lab experience preferred.
• ASCP Board of Certification/AMT certification or MLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical procedures in Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, Blood Bank, Point of Care Testing, Urinalysis and Microbiology.
• Follows quality control and quality assurance guidelines.
• Maintains equipment, inventory, and preventive maintenance.
• Participates in proficiency testing and accreditation readiness (CAP, DNV, CLIA, etc.).
• Trains staff and students; may lead in supervisor's absence.
• Collects specimens and may perform phlebotomy as applicable.
