Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a full-time Sr. Coder (Coder III) to assign ICD-10 CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ancillary records. Responsibilities include data abstraction, quality reporting, and metric-driven productivity.

Qualifications

• College Degree in Health Information Management or AHIMA certificate, or 1 year coding experience in acute care.
• Associate or Bachelor in Health Information Technology preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets records to assign ICD 10 CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes.
• Performs coding and abstracting to support data quality and severity/mortality reporting.
• Uses HL7-demographic data and coding systems for accurate coding and data changes as needed.
• Abstracts data, sequences codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Submits daily productivity reports and identifies coding errors or discrepancies.
