Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a full-time Coder III to accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes, with data abstraction for reimbursement and statistics across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ancillary records. The role emphasizes productivity and adherence to coding policies.

Responsibilities include reviewing records to code accurately, mentoring junior coders, and collaborating with the HIMS team on system improvements and DNFB reduction.

Qualifications

• CCS credential required.
• College Degree in Health Information Management, AHIMA certificate, or 1 year coding in acute care is required.
• Associate or Bachelor in Health Information Technology preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes for inpatient, outpatient, and other records.
• Abstract data for billing, data quality and statistics.
• Follow UHDDS definitions, CMS regulations, and Coding Guidelines.
• Mentor newer coders and participate in IT initiatives as needed.
