Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a full-time Coder III for remote work across inpatient, outpatient, and other records. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes, perform data abstraction for reimbursement and statistics, and mentor junior coders within the HIMS Coding team.

The role requires CCS, a health information degree or AHIMA certificate, or equivalent coding experience, with strong knowledge of coding guidelines. Competitive compensation with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• CCS credential required.
• College Degree in Health Information Management or AHIMA certificate, or 1 year acute care coding experience required.
• Associate or Bachelor degree in Health Information Technology preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes for inpatient, outpatient, emergency and ancillary records.
• Abstract data for reimbursement, statistics and severity of illness/risk of mortality reporting.
• Follow Official Coding Guidelines and CMS/UDDS definitions in coding.
• Review diagnostic reports and source documents to ensure accurate coding.
• Complete daily productivity assignments and participate in meetings and trainings.
• Mentor newer coders and support the coding team with queries and reviews.
• Prepare and submit daily, accurate productivity reports per department policy.

Education

CCS credential

Health Information Management degree or AHIMA certificate or 1 year coding experience

AS/BS in Health Information Technology preferred
