Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a full-time Sr. Coder (Coder III) to accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes, classify payment groups, and abstract data for reimbursement and statistics across inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary records.

The role supports DNFB dollar optimization and requires AHIMA-aligned training or equivalent experience. The position emphasizes high accuracy, timely coding, and collaboration within the HIMS department to ensure compliant billing and reporting.

Qualifications

• College Degree in Health Information Management or AHIMA certificate or 1 year coding experience in acute care.
• Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary records.
• Abstract pertinent data and ensure accurate code sequencing.
• Generate daily productivity reports per department policy.
• Identify and communicate coding discrepancies to management.
