Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert support for advanced examinations and treatments under physician or RN supervision. The role includes performing delegated medical assistant tasks, scheduling, ensuring medical necessity, and acting as a clinical resource and preceptor for staff.

Qualifications

• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT.
• BLS certification (AHA).
• Strong command of English in speaking, reading, and writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and ensure medical necessity compliance.
• Coordinate care and communicate with physicians, nurses, and patients.
• Provide preceptor duties and mentor Medical Assistants as needed.
