Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert support in examinations, treatments, and clinical procedures under physician or RN supervision. The role includes precepting Medical Assistants, coordinating care, and ensuring compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards.

The Sr. MA will perform administrative duties, schedule appointments, verify medical necessity, and maintain high-quality patient care within a collaborative interprofessional team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through a recognized certifying body and BLS.
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations and procedures.
• Perform routine tests (EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, pregnancy tests) and apply sterile technique.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care when needed.
• Provide preceptor and clinical resource duties to Medical Assistants and orient new staff.
