Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Senior Medical Assistant Certification (Sr. MA) to provide expert medical assisting under physician or RN supervision. The role supports examinations, procedures and dressing changes, and may schedule appointments while ensuring medical necessity and eligibility.

The Sr. MA will also serve as a preceptor and clinical resource, training peers and maintaining compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant credential and BLS required.
• Proficiency in English for accurate documentation and patient interaction.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify medical necessity and eligibility as needed.
• Provide preceptor and clinical resource support to Medical Assistants and train/orient others.
