Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to perform advanced medical assistant tasks under physician or RN supervision in a fast-paced clinic. The role includes assisting with exams, procedures, and treatments and supporting high-quality patient care.

The Sr. MA will serve as a preceptor and clinical resource, train staff, oversee EMR usage, and ensure compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards while coordinating patient scheduling and care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT. NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA)

Responsibilities

• Role models and promotes a positive work environment that actively assists interprofessional care team to achieve optimal department results.
• Collaborates with all members of the interprofessional health care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner.
• Independently executes the duties and responsibilities of preceptor, serves as a clinical resource in the department, guiding and mentoring colleagues’ though processes in order to provide optimal patient care.
• Provides care to patients visiting the clinic under the direct supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or clinic leadership procedures.
• Documents vital signs, medications review, and patient history in EMR and ensures compliance with policies.
