Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert support for advanced examinations and treatments under physician or RN supervision. The role includes patient care, EMR documentation, and acting as a clinical resource for Medical Assistants.

The Sr. MA will oversee scope of practice, assist with scheduling, ensure medical necessity compliance, and support quality care with strong communication and teamwork within the interprofessional care team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT. NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT and
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA)

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify medical necessity and eligibility for care.
• Provide preceptor duties and serve as a clinical resource to Medical Assistants.
• Train and orient new staff as appropriate.
