Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to function as an expert in advanced examinations and treatments. Duties include communicating with physicians and RNs, supporting high-quality patient care, and serving as an EMR super-user and clinical resource for staff.

The Sr. MA will assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostics, dressings, and may schedule appointments while ensuring medical necessity compliance and eligibility verification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant and BLS certification required; CPT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostics, treatments, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify medical necessity and eligibility for care.
• Serve as preceptor and clinical resource, training and orienting others as appropriate.
