Job summary

RTX is seeking a tooling design engineer to design and develop tools and fixtures for aerospace manufacturing. You will create 3D models, drawings, and documentation, collaborating across manufacturing, quality, and engineering to ensure tooling meets performance requirements and production goals.

The role requires experience with CAD software (NX/CATIA/Creo/SolidWorks), GD&T, and cross-functional teamwork, with a focus on improving tool design efficiency and safety compliance. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
• Experience with CAD software (NX, CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks).
• Experience with GD&T, manufacturing processes and assembly techniques.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills related to mechanical design.
• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tools, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing and engineering processes.
• Create and update 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation using CAD software.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to ensure tooling meets requirements and is production-ready.
• Support testing, validation, and troubleshooting of tools to meet quality standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tool design processes to reduce lead times.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
• Explore new suppliers for tooling and support purchasing.
• Train engineers and technicians on tooling usage.
